A picture of her on a haystack captured the moment: A mother-daughter visit to a pumpkin patch. At 17, she had a 3-year-old daughter, a younger sister and two brothers.
“She wanted to show her daughter better in life,” said her grandmother. “She (said), ‘I’m going to go to school and I’m going to accomplish something.’”
Kayla Yolanda Huerta, 17, was found dead in her car, with multiple gunshot wounds, at 2:28 a.m. on June 18, 2018, in San Pedro, California. The suspect charged with her murder allegedly became angry at something he heard and opened fire.
