He came home to Columbus, Ohio, looking for a job with his welder trade certification after graduating from high school near Pittsburgh. His family described him as hard-working.

He was driven to West Bexley Apartments, where his son’s mother lived. Jamareil Tamonte Caldwell, 18, better known as Jay, was found dead from a gunshot wound behind the apartment complex on Oct. 16, 2018 in Columbus. He was Columbus’s 85th homicide in 2018.
