Goldsboro, North Carolina

A possible accident between two classmates

He resembled his grandfather — at least his spirit did. That’s what his family members would say.

Known as “Juice” and “TJ,” he attended Wayne Academy and loved spending time with his family. He was described as “lovable” and a “joker.” He had a genuine spirit that everyone around him noticed.

Jahlil Deneil Teachey, 17, was shot in the face on Nov. 3, 2018 by a classmate. He died of his injuries at a local hospital in Goldsboro, North Carolina. At the time, it was unclear if Teachey’s shooting was accidental.
