De'Andre D. Marshman

Age 18

Washington, District of Columbia

His wide grin is gone forever

On school days he made his way to Cardozo Education Campus’ recently renovated facilities in Washington, D.C. The fresh purple and white paint. Newly designed classrooms. A pool. The new campus gave his community hope that things would get better.

He had the kind of grin that stretches really wide and lights up a whole face with joy. His eyes twinkle as he stares up at the camera lens.

That spark extinguished for De'Andre D. Marshman on the early morning of June 2, 2018. Deandre Marshman, 18, was shot on Lincoln Road in Northeast D.C, a mile and a half from school.
