David A. Thomas

Age 16

Chicago, Illinois

He started his own clothing line

A close friend described him as a “people person” who loved his family and was at ease in any social situation. Always cordial, he charmed crowds with his goofy sense of humor.

His friends tried talking him into playing football, but his true passion was basketball. He also gravitated toward creative pursuits. He and a friend started a clothing line that sold shirts and sweaters.

On May 20, 2018, David Thomas, 16, a Little Village Lawndale High School student, was killed in Lawndale, Chicago, after being shot in the face near his home. His last Facebook message, posted earlier that day said: “THIS STREET SHIT AINT RIGHT EVERYBODY WANNA BE SHOOTERS."
