He had just found out he was going to have a child — a baby girl that would maybe gaze up at him with big, dark eyes mirroring his own.

“Everybody loved him,” his mother would later say. “No matter where he went, he put a mark on someone.”

Damon Eros Marinoff, 15, was fatally shot on March 22, 2018, in Youngstown, Ohio, while selling iPhones to a stranger he met online in an attempt to raise money to support his new family. His daughter, Paige, was born seven months later, “a spitting image of him.”
