Britney Urena

Age 15

Tulsa, Oklahoma

From fiery hair, a crown tumbles

She was fearless. Her bright red, firey hair reflected her bold, confident personality. She had no enemies and her warm demeanor earned her peers’ vote for Prom Queen.

A flame, it was only natural that so many people were drawn to her. She knew how to make people laugh. “Killer sense of humor,” said one friend. But a week after celebrating her 15th birthday, she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The news shook the community – a flame had vanished to smoke.

Britney Urena, 15, was shot in the chest at a party and died on Dec. 9, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
