Chickasha, Oklahoma

A floral welcome sign hung outside

He looked smart and dressed with care. He had a deep commitment to his family and his football team. A welcome sign hung outside his and his girlfriend’s new house in Chickasha, Oklahoma, soon to be glimpsed by their first child.

He went outside early one morning to answer a phone call. Five teenagers were there. According to police, they had set up a fake drug deal and planned to rob him.

Arnold Alfred Adams III, 18, was shot in the chest at 3 a.m. on Jan. 28, 2019 behind a Dairy Queen, just 50 feet from his house. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
