Alyssa Brantley Davis

Age 9

Pine Level, Alabama

She wanted to work with animals

The blonde-haired fourth-grader aspired to one day trade in her favorite stuffed animals for real animals as a professional veterinarian. She posed with the bunny-eared Snapchat filter while making duck faces with her cousin as the two took a selfie. “She was my mini-me and my little crazy best friend,” her cousin Bryhanna Carter posted online. “She was always a ball of energy.”

On Nov. 4, 2018, Alyssa Brantley Davis, 9, accidentally shot herself with a handgun in a home on Laurel Hill Drive in Prattville, Alabama.
