Silly photos become grandma’s cherished memories

She and her little sister liked to tease their grandma. At 14 and 12 years old, they were polar opposites. She was shy and her sister was outgoing, but they shared a mischievous pastime: snapping goofy pictures of their grandmother while she slept. It was their own way of showing how much they loved her.

Neighbor John Rice called them “the nicest people in the world.”

On May 31, 2018, Nykerria Shanyia Jackson, 14, was shot and killed at her home in Timmonsville, South Carolina. The gunman murdered her sister and mother, too.
