Loved listening to Lana Del Rey

Her favorite song was Lana Del Rey’s “Born to Die.” She and her best friend would lie down at night and listen to the lyrics: “Why, who me, why?/Feet don't fail me now/Take me to your finish line.”

Outside in central El Paso, Texas, violence and near brushes with death were the norm.

While Del Rey’s song moved her, she didn’t expect it would happen to her. On September 14, Leslie Ibarra, 17, along with her boyfriend and his brother, was shot and killed outside an apartment building.
