Zuleyma Hernandez

Age 15

Houston, Texas

A golden cross around her neck

In the photograph she stares directly at the camera lens with big, brown eyes. The ombre tips of her dark hair curl around her shoulders and a gold Christian cross pendant hangs from her neck.

Violent crime isn’t uncommon at the San Lucas Apartment Complex on Glenmont Drive in Houston. The young student from Wisdom High School was caught outside her home at the wrong time.

On the afternoon of April 15, 2018, a group of teens opened fire on Zuleyma Hernandez, 15, her boyfriend and her father at their apartment. Zuleyma was only one who died.
