Zoe Jane Kasten

Age 8

Saint Charles, Missouri

She had already lost her dad

She attended Harris Elementary School in St. Charles, Missouri. It was less than a mile away from her home in a well-maintained subdivision.

In April 2017, her father, a former Marine, died after a six-year battle with cancer.

After her husband’s death, her mother dated another man for about a year.

Zoe Kasten, 8, was shot and killed by her mother’s boyfriend along with her 10-year-old brother, mother and grandmother in St. Charles, Missouri, on Dec. 28, 2018. Hundreds of community members attended their candlelight vigil. At her funeral, attendees were asked to donate to her elementary school.
