Zachariah Utah Bostic

Age 17

Leon Valley, Texas

Just two blocks away from home

They met freshman year — a romance blossoming out of late night texts and algebra study sessions. Online chats turned into smiles in the hallway, and soon they were inseparable. When her mom died, he was there to pick up the pieces.

He was his girlfriend’s hero. “He was always the first person I wanted to talk to in the morning and the last person at night,” she would later say.

He never got to say goodbye. On September 12, 2018 in Leon Valley, Texas, Zachariah Utah Bostic, 17, was shot. He walked, bleeding, over a mile to make it home. He collapsed just two blocks away from his house.
