Yaharre James Stennis

Age 14

Pontiac, Michigan

He was their little big man

Endearingly chubby cheeks and a short stature: His nickname of ”Little Man” was fitting. He might've been little, but his heart was big, said a neighbor who knew him and often saw him around.

Just a boy, he regularly walked his dogs and played with other kids in the neighborhood.

On July 9, 2018 in Pontiac, Michigan, his cousin asked him to move a bed when a gun underneath the mattress fired unexpectedly, and Yaharre James Stennis, 14, was shot in the chest and killed. His cousin was charged with involuntary manslaughter. “You don’t know how hard it is until it comes to your house,” his neighbor said afterward.
