A fun-loving girl called "Skinny"

Her grandmother taught her to play dominoes, a game she loved to play with her siblings and cousins. The fun-loving girl was nicknamed “Skinny.”

“She’s in my heart and she’s going to stay there,” said her great-grandmother, Coleen Covelli. “She was loved.”

She inspired her community, and even strangers, to take action. A plush lion, candles, and roses sat outside her white stucco home just hours after neighbors heard of the tragedy.

The 5-year-old was accidentally shot by her 7-year-old brother around noon on October 8, 2018 on South Holly Avenue in Henrico, Virginia. The police did not receive permission from the parents to release the child’s name.
