Tymier Shelby

Age 12

Wilmington, Delaware

Boy remembered as quiet but dutiful

In one photo, he smiles widely, hands clutching as many toys as he can hold: a red truck, a blue car. In another, he squints into the camera restlessly, his younger brother beside him. In another, he cradles his baby sister.

He’s described as quiet but dutiful. He made money by selling water bottles and “words of encouragement” outside of his home.

He found a loaded gun in his home and accidentally fired it. His family heard a gunshot, and he was rushed to A.I. duPont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Tymier Shelby, 12, died on Aug. 3, 2018, in Wilmington, Delaware.
