A nail salon trip turned tragic

He was in the middle of third grade. He filled his classmates with joy.

One evening, his mother drove to a nail salon with him and his two siblings, aged 11 and 5. The three kids stayed in the car while she checked on wait times. A few moments later, an 18-year-old opened fire on their car.

Eight-year-old Tristian Hutchins was shot in the head and his 5-year-old sister was shot in the leg on March 1, 2018, in Houston, Texas. Tristian died after a monthlong hospital battle. His memorial was held at Emancipation Park.
