Trevaun Romero Holloway

Age 16

Matteson, Illinois

Football player. Honor roll. Cut short.

A red Pontiac Grand Am cruised down a quiet road in Matteson, Illinois. It was late fall, and leaves probably blanketed the suburban lawns.

The driver played wide receiver and safety on Rich Central High’s football team. An honor roll student, he held a 4.0 GPA. His mother described still going into his room, “looking for him, hoping this is just a dream.” He had 12 siblings.

Around 5 p.m on Nov. 6, 2018, Trevaun Romero Holloway’s car barreled into a wooden fence. Police found the 16-year-old had suffered multiple gunshot wounds before losing control of the car. He was dead at the scene.
