A Saturday night, gone terribly wrong

He lived on Swiss Avenue, a short way from the heart of Nashville, Tennessee – a quiet part of the city, surrounded by residential villages and apartments.

It was in nearby Antioch, another peaceful part of town, where his Saturday night took a turn for the worse. He was with a friend. The drive to the hospital took just over 20 minutes, but it was too late.

Tori Deiontay Murphy Jr., 18, died of gunshot wounds at the Preakness Apartment complex on Bell Road on Dec. 15, 2018. He was the 80th homicide victim in Davidson County, Tennessee, in 2018.
