At age 11, he escaped a drive-by shooting with cuts and bruises.
At 14, he saw his cousin, Kiaja, 2, shot and killed. “He saw the hole in her head,” his aunt, Tequila Smalls, told The Trace. “It changed him forever.”
Now, his three sisters and little brother are mourning him. Shy'Ree Smalls, 17, nicknamed “Beefy” and “Shy,” was shot multiple times and killed in Savannah, Georgia, on October 27, 2018. According a tribute page posted online, “he was a beautiful boy… loved deeply by everyone who knew him.”
