Rohquan Gardner

Age 18

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Mom had already lost two others

It happened on Halloween. Later, he lay in a gray suit and necktie. The sides of his mouth were arranged in a smile.

He had two brothers who, in 2009, had died nine days apart from gun violence. After their deaths, he cared for his mother, often calling to check up on her. Maybe he told one of his “infamous tall tales” to distract her. She knew him as her “gentle giant.”

Rohquan Gardner, 18, was caught in a “hail of bullets” and shot dead on Oct. 31, 2018, on Chew Avenue and Chelten Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
