Turn of the century child lost

He appeared at the beginning of a new century, a Y2k baby born on Dec. 31, 1999. They called him “RD.”

He was wrestling and arguing with a friend when it happened. At first his friend told police that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. Then he said they both had guns, a .380 caliber pistol and a .22 caliber rifle, and that he had returned fire.

Rodney Chandler, 18, was fatally shot by a friend on Oct. 26, 2018 in Lakewood, Washington. The friend buried the gun he used, the pistol. Charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter, he pled not guilty.
