A good guy, headed toward home

He was headed home when he stopped at the Oak Forest Apartments in Scottdale, Georgia.

A recent high school graduate, he was described as a good guy. According to a friend, there was an argument in the parking lot at Oak Forest over a cellphone.

Rene Betancourt, 18, was shot in the face on Nov. 28, 2018, and rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died. The memorial on his mother’s Facebook page includes angels, white roses and candles. “It happens out here,” his friend said. “But it’s sad that it has to happen to the people that we care about.”
