Raymond Vargas

Age 17

El Mirage, Arizona

His mother couldn’t bear the news

He loved attending Dodgers games because that meant being with his family. He was a beautiful soul, content spending time with his friends or his little brother.

One evening, he went to see a movie, then called his mother and asked for permission to stay out. Afterward, a crisis response team came to his house, but the person who answered the door didn’t want to hear the news. "I’m not his mother," his mother said.

Raymond Vargas, 17, was shot in the chest and killed on April 26, 2018, in El Mirage, Arizona, while driving his friends home.
