He played football for the Aston Athletic Association and baseball for the Brookhaven Babe Ruth and Media Little Leagues. He also enjoyed spending summers in Longport, New Jersey.

On Nov. 3, 2018, just before 8 p.m., local officials found Nicholas Ryan Steel, 18, dead inside of a dark blue Buick Lucerne on Butler Street in Chester, Pennsylvania. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body and was unresponsive to aid from paramedics.
