Mohamed Ali Abdi

Age 18

Minneapolis, Minnesota

First his sister’s funeral. Now his.

The Kennedy High School student was charismatic with a kind heart. Mo was a “real one,” said a boy who admired him for his positive attitude.

His bright world became dark the day his eldest sister, Ayan Abdi Abdulahi, was shot by her boyfriend, three years and seven months earlier.

On Nov. 6, 2018, Mohamed Ali Abdi, 18, threw rocks at a man who yelled at him for boxing in his car at a gas station in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The man retaliated by shooting him and driving away. Abdi and his sister died of the same injury – a gunshot wound to the head.
