Mina Kim

Age 11

Silver Spring, Maryland

The artist with cat-eye glasses

She wore wide-framed, cat-eye glasses, black with white tips. She went to Argyle Middle School in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The 11-year-old was an artist and a sister, and during a candlelight vigil held in honor of her and her brother, artwork lay next to their portraits: two white swans with multi-colored tails, a drawing of a LEGO girl with her tongue sticking out, holding a pencil and wearing glasses and a shirt studded with perfect circles.

Mina Kim was shot and fatally wounded on Sept. 17, 2018, in Silver Springs by her father. Her mother and brother were also killed.
