Matthew Francis

Age 16

Houston, Texas

His donations mean others live on

He was about seven miles away from his Houston home on a Tuesday night. His father, Kenneth Sumpter Sr., said he was a good kid who liked to hang out late. “You know how kids are,” his father said.

A student at Sterling High School, he had a strong, faithful family.

On Oct. 23, 2018, Matthew T. Francis, 16, was shot in the head at the Garden Oaks Apartments in southeast Houston, Texas, across the freeway from where he lived with his mother. He fought on life support for two days before he died.
