Mason Garrett Jordan

Age 7

Bend, Oregon

His illnesses didn’t get him down

He made it through a coma and four surgeries as an infant, resulting from his cerebral palsy and hydrocephalus. His medical problems didn’t get him down. Neither did the regular hospital visits.

In 2016, community members in Bend, Oregon, raised funds so he could get a specialized bike worth $4,000. His mother said it would give him independence and allow him to feel like a child. He was happy, loved art, toy cars and learning.

On Aug. 20, 2018, Mason Garrett Jordan, 7, was shot and killed by his mother, who then attempted suicide.
