Martez Christopher Wade

Age 17

Louisville, Kentucky

“He wasn’t a statistic,” said mom

He was a brother, a son and grandson. His mother said he had a loving and caring personality, and was beginning to do well in school and turn his life around. “(H)e wasn’t a statistic like some kids out there,” she said.

An 11th grader at Breckinridge High School, “(h)e was a bright, young student,” said his manager at work.

Just after 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, 2018, Martez Christopher Wade, 17, was shot multiple times in front of the Overlook Terraces apartments in Louisville, Kentucky, where he lived. Minutes later, he died in his mother’s arms.
