Martez Brown

Age 18

Natchez, Mississippi

His loved ones called him ‘Debo’

He was muscular, a bigger guy. Loved ones said the media coverage painted the wrong picture, that he wasn’t a “thug.” His friends called him “Debo.”

One summer weekend he was out late on a Saturday night. He was with three friends on Dumas Drive in Natchez, Mississippi. Shots rang. The others ran, but he was too late.

On July 8, 2018, 18-year-old Martez Brown’s body was found at 2:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead at 3:45 a.m. His “TeeTee” said she would start a scholarship in his honor, calling it the MRBrown Scholarship Fund.
