Marcus Tyrone Brown

Age 18

Baltimore, Maryland

In two weeks, two brothers killed

His smile tilts left in the photo, posing in front of the green grass. The day, however, was anything but cheerful. The day was stuffy and humid but, even so, the lawn was packed.

The first person to speak at the gathering opened their mouth, but the sound of gunshots replaced their words. Everyone ran, but not fast enough. “I didn’t even get to bury my son,” his father said. Now, he will have to bury two.

Marcus Tyrone Brown, 18, died on August 25, 2018 after being shot in West Baltimore, Maryland. His younger brother, Maurice Brown Jr., died two weeks later. Maurice was shot at Marcus’s funeral.
