Malcolm Jemison

Age 16

Jonesboro, Arkansas

Inside, with three other young men

He lived in a dangerous area of the city. In 2017, the street crime unit was reactivated there following a spike in gang activity. “There is no place in the city for gangs and the violence they bring,” the mayor said in a statement.

He was inside a house with three other young men. His friends would refuse to cooperate with police, making it hard to know whether he was an innocent victim or a target for revenge.

Malcolm Jemison was killed by two gunmen during a quadruple shooting in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on Jan. 2, 2019. He was 16 years old.
