Can’t grow, can’t play, can’t live

He was playful and still close to his younger sister, but the 14-year-old wanted to grow up too fast, his family said.

Just after 3 a.m. on a Saturday in late June, he was walking through the Washington Park neighborhood in Chicago’s South Side. A car drove by and someone shot at him.

Lucian Lamarion Devious Paige was shot on June 30, 2018, and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he died from multiple gunshot wounds. His mother created a GoFundMe to pay for funeral costs. “These kids can’t live, they can’t play, they can't do nothing," a relative said.
