Born on October 7, 2000, the 18-year-old was known for being full of life and always helping people.

On Nov. 23, 2018, Thanksgiving night – around 9 p.m., when families typically clear their tables of pies and other leftovers – Kevin Israel Ortiz was shot in the face in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on North Lewis Avenue. He died the next day. Ortiz was the 52nd homicide in Tulsa in 2018.
