Shirley, Indiana

Her neighbor’s dog misses her voice

The town of Shirley, Indiana, has a sign upon entering that reads “Friendliness lives here, you’ll only be a stranger once.” She embodied that mantra and was known for her loving nature, both to humans and animals.

Though her neighbor’s home was separated from hers by woods, she would still climb over the trees to talk to the dog as it sat in its kennel, or peek through the leaves to look for the cat.

Kendall Lynn Langdon, 8, was about to start third grade at Shenandoah Elementary School. She was shot by her father in a murder-suicide on July, 26, 2018. Her mother was killed, as well.
