Kah’myah Robertson

Age 14

Muskegon Heights, Michigan

A loving brother’s unintentional, fatal mistake

She loved lip gloss. Her lips were often pursed together in Snapchat selfies, wisps of wavy black hair framing her cheeks. She adored children and would often babysit.

She had just graduated from Timberland Academy, a fresh-faced 14-year-old about to  enter Muskegon Heights Academy as a ninth-grader. “She was an outgoing person, she was loving. She was a good student,” remembered her mother.

Kah’myah Robertson was home in Muskegon Heights, Michigan, with her 16-year-old brother when he accidentally shot her with a 9mm semiautomatic handgun. The bullet went through her back and chest. She died at Mercy Health Hackley Campus on Aug. 20, 2018.
