John Stanley Presnar Jr.

Age 7

Miami, Florida

Neighbors won’t see him play again

It was a two-story tan house with brick-red shutters flanking its windows. A couple of palm trees sat out front, barely reaching its terra-cotta-lined roof.

Often two children — a girl, 8, and a boy, 7 — would play outside in the tiled driveway and on the dried lawn. The children’s parents “were always outside with their kids,” said one neighbor. “They were all a very, very nice family.”

On Dec. 16, 2018, at around 1 a.m., 7-year-old John Stanley Presnar Jr. was shot and killed by his father  in Southwest Miami-Dade County, Florida. His mother was also killed and his sister was fatally wounded before his father killed himself.
