A gunshot kills a gentle giant

He walked his younger brother to school every day.

Standing at 6-foot-6-inches, he was characterized by family and friends as a “gentle giant,” Bubba was a “distinguished young handsome man” with deep faith in God. He loved fishing, hunting, and riding dirt bikes with his friends.

On Dec. 6, 2018, 18-year-old Joey “Bubba” Michael Rhoden, Jr. was found lying dead with a gunshot wound to his head in his bedroom in Hilliard, Florida. A witness said that he was playing with a .22-caliber handgun when he accidentally shot himself. Family members have challenged this claim; an investigation is ongoing.
