Age 17

Houston, Texas

Joining the Army was his dream

After graduating from San Jacinto High School, he planned on joining the Army. He was just waiting on a signature from his mom so that he could enlist.

Reina Contreras, his mom, told Fox 26 that her youngest son “always looked out for her to make sure she was safe when she returned home from work.” On a Friday night, he received a phone call and went outside. He never returned.

On Friday, June 22, 2018, 17-year-old Jeremy Josue Contreras was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in the stairwell of the Bellfort Pines Apartments on Canyon Street in Houston.
