Jerbrel McVery

Age 17

Cleveland, Ohio

A beloved nephew, uncle and boyfriend

He spent his days at school with his friends dreaming up ways to spend his free time over the summer — afternoons playing in the yard with his favorite niece and nights out with his girlfriend filled with laughter.

He was handsome, funny and “so full of life,” his aunt would later say.

He never made it to the end of the school year. Jerbrel McVery, 17, was repeatedly shot in the head and back on April 12, 2018, in Cleveland, Ohio. Forty-one shell casings surrounded his body.
