Jeffrey Allen Shields

Age 18

Baltimore, Maryland

He was walking home at night

He cared for his mother and his numerous siblings. He worked several jobs and washed cars on the side. In the spare time that he had, he was a musician and he played basketball.

“He was my favorite nephew,” his uncle, Shaun Shields, said in a telephone interview. “He always wanted to go everywhere with me.”

Jeffrey Allen Shields was walking home from his cousin’s house at 2:40 a.m. on July 10, 2018, when he was shot in the back on Garrison Avenue in North Baltimore, Maryland. It was just one of three shooting deaths that day. Shields was 18.
