Afterward, girlfriends fought over him. His sister had to tell them to stop the “drama.”

Another friend remembered a swim lesson: “I was drowning and u jumped in even though u ain’t know how to swim too …. I love you brother.”

Police found Javon Tyrese Carson, 17, lying in the 4100 block of Chesford Road in Columbus, Ohio, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 5. He was pronounced dead “a short time later” at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.
