Jammie Holmes

Age 16

Chicago, Illinois

Protective brother; lost line of defense

He was a protective brother, one of six siblings, always looking out for his family. After just a short time apart, his sister Yolanda posted on Facebook saying it had been “a WEEK” since he’d been in the house. A month later, she posted again, using 16 emojis, including four broken hearts. He was her best friend.

He had played basketball in grammar school and loved cheering on the Golden State Warriors, especially his favorite player, Stephen Curry.

On Oct. 14, 2018, Jammie Holmes, 16, was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the 1700 block of 85th Street in Chicago, Illinois. He was taken to Christ Medical Center, where he died the next day.
