James King

Age 17

Grand Rapids, Michigan

A family man, until the end

He tattooed his family’s names onto his skin. A senior at East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan, he loved video games and his family. He was especially excited to meet his second nephew.

He arranged a deal to sell marijuana on social media. He went to a parking lot to meet the buyers and got into their car with his cousin. He tried to warn his cousin that he was being robbed.

James King, 17, was shot in the head on Jan. 13, 2019 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Pushed out of the car, he died in his cousin’s arms.
