She couldn’t wait for prom night

Prom season was approaching, and she had been looking for the perfect dress.

She was a loving sister to her eight siblings, a record-breaking swimmer, an expert at making chocolate chip cookies, and an accomplished 10th grade student at Great Mills High School in southern Maryland. Minutes before first period, her ex-boyfriend confronted her in the hallway carrying his father’s Glock 9mm pistol.

Jaelynn Rose Willey, 16, was shot on March 20, 2018. Sixty-four hours later, she was taken off life support and died.
