Jacob Scott Malcolm

Age 18

Fort Polk, Louisiana

Hunter, fisher, an American hero

Since he was 10, he dreamed of joining the U.S. Army. At 17, he finally did with his mother’s consent.

He was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, as an infantry rifleman. He was a devout Christian, a member of the New Covenant Christian Church. He loved life and the people in it. He adored his dog, Henry, and life’s simple pleasures: hanging out with his friends, hunting and fishing. He loved music, especially the hip-hop artist Joyner Lucas.

Pvt. Jacob Scott Malcolm died from a gunshot wound to the head on April 12, 2018, at a housing unit on the Vernon Parish base.
