Isaiah Starry

Age 13

Robstown, Texas

Active life. Lively community. Broken bonds.

He had a toothy grin and wore glasses. Restless with energy, he bounced down the halls of Calallen Middle School. He was 13.

A Boy Scout, he was beloved by his troop. “He was always helpful to other people,” his scoutmaster said. He volunteered at the Retama Manor Nursing Center, where his grandparents lived and where he spent two hours a day playing checkers and chess with residents there.

On July 27, 2018, Isaiah Starry and his father were shot in their home in Robstown, Texas by Isaiah’s uncle; he shot and killed Isaiah’s grandmother at the nursing home that same day.
