Heaven Hines

Age 17

Huntsville, Alabama

She hurried home for mom’s cooking

Her mother’s cooking was why she hurried home after school every day. Just one and a half miles — a four-minute drive to get back to the kitchen.

She was known for her bright smile and goofy laugh. One of six siblings, she was close to her mother. The pair called each other best friends. At 17, she was looking forward to graduating from high school, wearing the Jemison Jaguars’ signature blue and gold.

Heaven Hines was shot and killed alongside her mother, Iris Koress Bynum, and friend Xzariah Rice at approximately 3:30 a.m. on June 19, 2018.
